Our 1st year students visited La Carcova museum to round off the project on Arts and English. Before visiting it, they worked on vocabulary related to museums and exhibitions, materials and famous artists, and their productions. Then, students identified the 10 top museums in the world, where they are located, the type of art they exhibit as well as the most important sculptures in each of them.
At the museum, they saw the copies of these works of art, and in situ they analysed the pieces and discussed the main characteristics of these famous sculptures, who made these sculptures, where, the materials used, why they are important and famous, among other things. Some of the works the students saw there are: Venus of Milo, Winged Victory, a Sphinx, Assyrian Wounded Lion, hieroglyphics, Seated Scribe, Parthenon Friezes, Centaur, David, Moses, Pietá, Michelangelo’s Slaves, among others.
Now, back at school, they will have to write a review -which is one of the productions they learned to write in 1st year- on this museum, including as much information as possible.
Interesante visita al museo de La Cárcova
Departamento de Inglés
Nuestros estudiantes de 1.º año visitaron el museo de La Cárcova para finalizar el proyecto de Arte e Inglés. Antes de nuestra visita, los alumnos trabajaron sobre el vocabulario específico vinculado a museos y exhibiciones, materiales y obras de artistas famosos. Más tarde, los estudiantes identificaron diez museos emblema en el mundo, el tipo de arte que exhiben, y también las esculturas presentes en cada uno de ellos.
Ya en el museo, los chicos pudieron apreciar algunas copias de esas obras de arte, y también pudieron analizarlas y comentar las características centrales de ellas, quiénes fueron sus autores, dónde se realizaron las esculturas, qué materiales se utilizaron y por qué razón son tan importantes para la historia del arte, entre otros factores. Algunas de las obras que vimos son la Venus de Milo, Victoria alada, la Esfinge, la Leona herida, Los Frisos del Partenón, el Centauro, el David, La Piedad, Los Esclavos de Miguel Ángel, entre otros.
Ahora, de regreso en el colegio, los alumnos deberán redactar una reseña -que es uno de los géneros que trabajamos durante la primera parte del año- sobre el museo, incluyendo la mayor cantidad de información posible.
